LiftVest Awarded Contract by the Department of Veterans Affairs

NEW YORK, December 10 -- LiftVest (www.liftvest.com), a manufacturer and distributor of vests that aid in transfers, stabilization and repositioning of wheelchair patients, announced today that the Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a Federal Supply Schedule Contract to the company.

Through this contract, the Office of Acquisition and Material Management of the VA, grants permission to all the VA hospitals and facilities nationwide to purchase LiftVests.

According to Cynthia Price Cohen, Ph.D., CEO of LiftVest, the contract was expedited in an unusually short time period because there is currently no other product like the LiftVest on the market.

Dr. Cohen stated, "We are proud and excited to be able to offer our Veterans using wheelchairs a better way of achieving transfers because of the remarkable benefits of the LiftVest."

The attractively styled garment features multiple webbing handholds that provide a caregiver with secure grips that help distribute weight over the entire torso. Using the LiftVest, caregivers and nurses can transfer patients easily, comfortably and securely from any angle, thus reducing injuries to both lifter and patient. Patients gain an increased sense of dignity and security that comes from knowing that their transfer from a wheelchair to a bed, chair, car or toilet can be accomplished with grace and safety.

LiftVest is used nationwide in healthcare and managed care facilities, as well as private homes, by wheelchair patients and their caregivers.

LiftVest products can be ordered at 800-300-5671.
